| HORSES FOR SALE: NEW ARRIVALS |
New arrivals are born in lots around the barn and all are imprinted for approximately 5 days after birth. Mares and babies are allowed to run in a herd within a week of birth. We believe this adds to their acclimation toward other horses and improves socialization. We begin introducing new arrivals to the halter and leading very early, frequently within the first week. Acclimation to people and new situations is addressed at the beginning of life. Tractors, four wheelers, cars and other equipment are freely used around new arrivals. Additionally, trailers and loading are introduced during the first few months. We strongly believe that our work with the horses at this young age pays great dividends while training during the next few years. Weaning occurs at 6 months, an age that seems to work best for both mare and baby.
